Aquifer recharge areas are designated in the Electric City comprehensive plan. Because the classification focuses on soil types with the potential for recharge, protections shall be broad enough to preserve essential aquifer recharge functions and values.

Additionally, if any of the following areas are established within the city, they shall be included on these maps:

(1) Sole source aquifer recharge areas designated pursuant to the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act;

(2) Areas established for special protection pursuant to the Washington State groundwater management program;

(3) Wellhead protection areas within the 10-year time of travel boundary, or boundaries established using alternate criteria approved by State Department of Health in those settings where groundwater time of travel is not a reasonable delineation criteria;

(4) Aquifer recharge areas mapped and identified by a qualified groundwater scientist. (Ord. 563 § 1, 2019; Ord. 456 § 1, 2012; Ord. 367 § 2, 2005)
