Before entering upon the duties of the clerk-treasurer’s office, the city clerk-treasurer shall take an oath of office and file a bond, acceptable to the council, duly executed by the clerk-treasurer and by a company duly authorized to act as a surety in the state of Washington, for the sum of $1,000 conditioned upon faithful performance of the clerk-treasurer’s duties.
